I Love the 80s Workshop 7/30-8/3 July 30, 2018

The 1980s was a time for extremes. Extreme fashion, extreme hair care products, but perhaps most memorably, extreme music. There was even a band CALLED Extreme! So we decided to offer a 2018 workshop celebrating the music of a decade with one of the most memorable soundtracks in rock history. Because the music of the 1980s embraced so many different styles and levels of complexity, students of all ability levels are encouraged to sign up. Songs will be chosen based on a combination of camper interest while accounting for variations in ability levels. Our highly qualified staff here at School of Rock Seekonk has the experience and the know-how to get even the shyest of kids to experience the joy of making music with their fellow students. With this workshop, like so many of our others, we’re committed to helping kids experience what playing in a band is really like, so portions of the latter days are dedicated to things like team building, poster design, album art, and the always daunting task of coming up with a band name. Students should bring their own snacks and lunches during the week, with the exception of Thursday when we will order pizza for all the kids. The workshop will conclude on Friday afternoon with a live performance of 6-10 songs at a local venue.
